Some items need no translation from one decade to the next.  The classic little black dress became famous when Audrey Hepburn donned on in Breakfast at Tiffany's.  This Chanel number launched a mainstay item.  No wardrobe is complete without a little black dress; why not make yours as unique as you are by shopping for a previously-loved vintage one?

Around the turn of the last century, black dresses were worn only by those in mourning.  Hollywood helped make the LBD acceptable by using black in movies.  During the black and white film age of the 20's and 30's every dress was black.. or at least shades of dark grey.  Ironically with the advent of technicolor Hollywood Producers still used black dresses as other colors looked distorted by the new color cameras.  The chanel dress that Audrey wore was black for a reason: it looked best to the cameras of the day.  And it's not so bad today, either.
